My name is Candice, also known as Candiché, and I am a Venezuelan-American artist specializing in the captivating photographic technique called cyanotype. Through my art, I delve into the world of plants and the wonders of the natural realm.
I was born in Michigan but grew up on the enchanting island of Margarita in Venezuela. It was during my time at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, where I pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus on prints and books, that I discovered my profound affinity for the printmaking process.
From a young age, I felt an undeniable connection with nature, and after completing my studies, I decided to fully immerse myself in my passion. I embarked on a journey that involved working on an organic farm, honing my skills in floral design, becoming a master gardener, and eventually pursuing studies in permaculture design and agroforestry in Bali, Indonesia.
Immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the natural world, I felt compelled to find a means of artistic expression that could capture its essence. That’s when I stumbled upon cyanotype, a photographic technique that immediately resonated with me.
Cyanotype is a fascinating process that involves creating prints using a photosensitive solution and exposing them to UV light. The result is a distinctive blue-toned image, imbued with a sense of nostalgia and ethereal beauty. I fell in love with the medium’s ability to convey the delicate intricacies of plants and the captivating interplay of light and shadow.
My artistic journey is a reflection of my deep connection with nature and my desire to share its profound beauty with others. Through my cyanotype prints, I strive to evoke a sense of wonder and awe for the natural world, encouraging viewers to pause, contemplate, and develop a deeper appreciation for the intricate details and hidden treasures that surround us.
Each piece I create is a testament to my passion and dedication to capturing the essence of plants and the mesmerizing wonders of nature. From delicate botanical compositions to striking landscapes, I aim to convey the harmony, resilience, and fragility of our environment.
As an artist, I constantly seek inspiration in the world around me. Whether it’s exploring lush forests, observing intricate floral patterns, or simply observing the interplay of light and shadow, every experience fuels my creativity and shapes my artistic vision.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share my artwork with the world. Through exhibitions, galleries, and online platforms, I hope to connect with art enthusiasts, nature lovers, and individuals who share my passion for exploring the beauty and mysteries of the natural world.
Join me on this artistic journey, where we can celebrate the captivating allure of plants, explore the boundless wonders of nature, and embark on a visual odyssey that stirs the senses and awakens our appreciation for the world around us. Together, let us embark on a creative exploration of the intricate tapestry of life and the extraordinary stories waiting to be unveiled through the art of cyanotype.
